WOMEN IN IT LOOKS AFTER UNDERPRIVILEGED KIDS

Women in IT (WIIT), adopted the CCCC Centre through the “Show your hands show your heart” campaign at a ceremony held at the Centre on Saturday 25 August 2007. The CCCC Centre is a home for 41 abandoned children ranging in age from 4 to 17.

WIIT donated clothes, blankets, food and stationary to the Centre on behalf of the forum and its members. “The women in the forum are happy to use their hands and open their hearts by not only supporting women in the IT industry but by giving back to underprivileged communities. The members of our forum realise that there is a need and we want to help”, says Christeen Erwee, Project Manager for WIIT.

On the day, WIIT brought fun and laughter to the children of the Centre by handing out party packs, having lunch and donating clothes, food and other goods which were gathered through collection boxes placed at the WIIT’s various sponsors’ offices around Gauteng, these sponsors include Microsoft, Fujitsu Siemens, Bytes Technology Group,HP and Datacentrix.

“This was not a once off visit but the start of a fruitful relationship between the forum and this centre for abandoned children. We at the WIIT forum look forward to helping the Centre by donating essential items and volunteering our time. This is our opportunity to give back to a community that is in dire need”, concludes Erwee.
