The
mentoring scheme will be driven through the Women
in IT website and special events, on both a formal
and informal basis. The aim is to facilitate the
personal and professional growth of our community
members through the formation of successful linkages
between mentors and mentees.
At
a formal level, we will invite a select number
of individuals who have indicated their willingness
to be a mentor to share their mentoring experience
through our website and electronic newsletter
so that our community can learn from their experiences.
We
encourage these individuals to commit to a range
of activities with their mentee, for example,
a week-long apprenticeship; ongoing advice, ongoing
support and encouragement; skills knowledge and
transfer; and regular face-to-face meetings.
On
an informal level, community members will be encouraged
to either look for, or become, a mentor.
If
you are looking for a mentor or are interested
in becoming a mentor, please send an email to
Celeste
Whitaker.
